This coolant refilling tool saves so much time and effort when changing coolant. How does it work? Let’s go through the traditional methods when changing coolant. First, we need to jack up the car, or tilt the car if you don’t have a jack, locate the drain plug underneath the radiator, and remove it. The existing coolant in the radiator will be drained accordingly. After coolant is drained, you lower the car and pour new coolant with a funnel via the radiator, expansion tank, or recovery tank. While pouring the new coolant, a substantial amount of air is also introduced into the radiator and the cooling system, and that air will form air pockets in the system and can cause those area overheating because the coolant is not able to travel to those areas. Therefore, the time-consuming air bleeding process has to be carried out. Usually it takes about half an hour. After the lengthy air bleeding process, check the coolant level, and make sure you top it up between the Max and Min lines. Now let’s see how this tool set can help you reduce time.

After coolant is drained, the same process as mentioned beforehand, lower the car and connect this tool set to the cooling system. The lower part of the tool has an expandable rubber. When tighten up the golden rotor, the rubber part will be squeezed. Together with the three rubber rings, this tool is able to fit itself to a wide variety of radiator or expansion tank openings. After making sure that the tool is well connected on the radiator or recovery tank, connect the tool to the vacuum pump provided in the kit, and then connect to an air compressor. Turn on the valve on the tool, and a vacuum will gradually be created. When the gauge reader falls in the range between -60 – -50 cmHg (the yellow area), turn off the valve. Disconnect the tool from the air compressor, and connect the coolant hose provided to the tool. On the other end, submerged the coolant hose under new coolant with proper volume. Once the valve is turn on, the coolant will be automatically drawn into the cooling system by the vacuum inside. Because no air is introduced into the cooling system, you do not have to perform the time-consuming air bleeding, and that can save you up so much time. When the coolant can be changed in a timely manner, you are able to work with more cars in a day.

1. Does this tool draw out the coolant in the cooling system?

No, this tool only refills coolant into the cooling system. The old coolant still has to be drained by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.

2. So how fast does the tool can refill the coolant?

Everything happens so fast when you are working with this tool. Usually, the vacuum creating process takes 3-5 minutes, and the coolant refilling process takes another 5 minutes. If you are very familiar with this tool and you’ve got everything prepared in advanced, changing coolant with this tool set can be done in 15 minutes.

3. What kind of sorcery that vacuum can draw the coolant into cooling system? 

Instead of saying that the vacuum can draw the coolant in, it should be said that it’s the atmospheric pressure that pushes the coolant to a place where the pressure is much lower than atmospheric pressure.

The rubber part of the tool only has a diameter of 30.4 mm at its natural state, and 37.2 mm when the rubber is expanded. This size is suitable for some vehicles such as BMW, Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot, Renault, and Toyota. With the three rubber rings, the sizes fall in the range between 35 to 48 mm, and that is suitable for Audi, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, GM, and Volkswagen etc.
